From Bay Green, walks can be enjoyed to St Michael’s Isle – Fort Island, a rocky island dating from the Mesolithic period. The island is home to two Manx National Heritage sites, St Michael’s Chapel, built in the early Medieval period and Derby Fort built during the reign of King Henry VIII to repel possible invaders.
The Raad ny Foillan (Way of the Gull) skirts right past Bay Green Restaurant where a welcome refreshment or a hearty meal awaits hikers and walkers before continuing on the rugged coastal path past Hango Broogh, onto the Herring Tower and the Lighthouse on the tip of Langness. The gullies are teeming with seabirds, and seals, dolphins and basking sharks can also be spotted in these waters. Bay Green Restaurant is uniquely located in an Area of Special Scientific Interest; a Bird Sanctuary and a Marine Reserve, offering many options for locals and visitors to this southern peninsula of the Isle of Man.
