Castletown Golf Links

Thank you for considering visiting Castletown Golf Links and for your future custom.

We have been welcoming golfers to these links since 1891 and look forward to receiving you as a member during your stay.

The following is designed to provide you with an overview of what to expect of your visit, and to answer those questions that are most likely to be asked. If there is an aspect not covered in the below, please contact us by email or telephone and we will be happy to assist with your query.

PAYMENT OF GREEN FEES

In general, we offer a green fee to play both 18-holes, and for those wishing to play more, a day pass. Please be aware, we do not offer 9-hole rates.

Bookings are non-refundable. We require a 50%, non-refundable deposit payment within 14 days of booking. Failure to make the requested deposit payment by the due date given in the provisional email will result in the booking being cancelled.

Full payment is due a minimum of 30 days prior to the booking. Failure to make the requested payment by the due date given in the provisional email will result in the booking being cancelled and the deposit lost.

Payment should be made electronically to the bank details on the email confirmation or by the lead golfer or lead correspondent. For any international payments, please note that you may need to contact your bank to inform them of the payment before proceeding to use.

Should you not make payment electronically, we accept all major debit & credit cards (excluding AMEX) for payment of green fees and/or services.

Once payment has been received, an official confirmation will be sent by e-mail to the lead booker or relevant booking agent, if applicable.

All green fees are non-refundable. We strongly recommend that you arrange travel insurance to provide cover in the event that you are unable to play at your booked time or have to reduce the number of golfers once green fees are paid. In certain circumstances and at the discretion of the management, we may opt to offer you an opportunity to visit on the following day or another day in the future if convenient for both parties.

If you are offered a voucher code, redeemable online at www.castletowngolflinks.com for a future booking, please be aware that it can only be used by the name associated with the original booking and not given out, gifted or sold to other parties. Failure to adhere to these conditions will result in the voucher code being expunged.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Bookings are non-refundable but can be changed, subject to availability, within 48 hours and at the sole discretion of Club management.  Tee-times can be rescheduled, provided there is suitable availability. Golfers who fail to attend on the day will be charged in full.  Any rescheduled tee times are subject to upcharges, depending on seasonal rates.

All offers are subject to availability at the time of booking.  Exclusions and restrictions apply.  Group bookings and golf events are subject to additional conditions.  Full details are provided upon request.

Management strongly recommends that all golfers have adequate travel insurance.

USE OF THE COURSE

The management staff will agree the golf course and practise facilities set up on a daily basis and decides when it is fit for play. To avoid disappointment, we recommend that you check availability with the Pro Shop and reserve your tee time in advance.

Please check in with the Pro Shop prior to play to confirm or arrange tee times. All guests should be registered in the Shop at least 10 minutes prior to play.

All play shall commence from the 1st tee. Play commencing from any other tee may only be done by permission from the Pro Shop.

PACE OF PLAY

The acceptable maximum time frame for a four-ball to complete their round is 4 hours 30 minutes. Three & two-ball groups should play quicker than this please.

If your group is failing to maintain a proper pace of play (meaning holding its position relative to the group in front of you) you must allow the players behind you to “play through” regardless of the number of players.

Please be aware that the course is situated within a beautiful and dramatic landscape which naturally has varying ground conditions. The utmost care must be observed if venturing outside the maintained playing areas to avoid injury, particularly on holes situated near the coast and where there are rocky outcrops and coastal inlets such as the 17th & 18th holes. Castletown Golf Links accepts no liability for those golfers wishing to search for or retrieve golf balls that may be lost in these areas. Golfers are cautioned to be sensible.

AVAILABLE TEES

In the interest of a proper pace of play, we encourage all players (particularly those entertaining guests) to play from the most favourable and user-friendly tee location. We do not have such a thing (except in Winter) as a “tee of the day”. As our guests, you are welcome to choose the tee commensurate with your experience and level of skill.

During the months of Nov – March inclusive, please be aware we offer a shorter course (5636 yards) and it is mandatory for all play from the tee, to be hit from the provided mats.

USE OF THE PRACTISE AREA

Visiting players are welcome to use the two warm-up nets, putting & chipping greens. Regrettably we do not offer a Driving Range facility for guests.

GOLF DRESS CODE

Whilst we strive to create a friendly relaxed atmosphere, visitors are required to observe basic etiquette and dress sensibly. Proper golf attire must be worn on the golf course and practice areas at all times. Golf slacks, chinos or shorts, collared shirts or appropriate mock and turtle neck shirts are considered appropriate. Please note cargo style trousers, denim, tracksuits and football/rugby/hockey jerseys are unacceptable on the golf course.

A smart-casual dress code is required in the Clubhouse and the Salt & Swing Cafe & Bar.

CARE OF THE COURSE

It is the player’s responsibility to ensure that he/she repairs all ball marks on the greens & fringes, repair and or replace all divots on the fairway and that they leave bunkers neatly raked with the rake left in the middle of the bunker. Practice play/shots are not allowed on the golf course. A Provisional Ball maybe played where appropriate if the original ball is thought to be lost/OOB. Sand/seed containers are available for the day, on loan to you and to kindly be returned after your round.

HEALTH & SAFETY

In addition to the normal etiquette and “FORE” warning, golfers are advised that the golf course sits within an ASSI, a bird sanctuary and is an area popular with non-golfers. Please be mindful of the public highways, roads and public footpaths that run-through, intersect and bypass the facilities. At all times, vehicles, pedestrians & cyclists have priority, and no play should occur until completely safe to do so. In particular, care should be taken on the: 5th, 6th, 10th, 11th, 17th & 18th holes.

COURSE SET-UP & MAINTENANCE

In most circumstances, the course will be prepared for use commencing 08:00am. Please note that you may encounter course maintenance personnel depending on your pace of play although they will endeavour to stay ahead of play. Should you encounter work being undertaken, kindly be advised that course maintenance personnel have right of way and their safety is paramount. From time to time, we may be required to undertake essential work during high season to ensure our playing surfaces are maintained to the highest standard. At all times, you are asked to be patient and respectful, allowing our team to complete their tasks as necessary.

The golf course will be reviewed continuously by the Course Manager or his Deputy to ensure the safest playing environment for all golfers.

CLUBHOUSE, CAFÉ & OPENING HOURS

Regrettably, due to the scale and location of the links, we do have certain limitations with respect to the hospitality we can offer.
Our Salt & Swing Café Bar welcomes all and offers breakfasts during the morning, switching to a lunch service from 12 midday until approximately 14:45pm. Beyond this time, the Bar offers alcohol, tea/coffee, cold drinks and fresh cakes/snacks until closing, which is generally no later than 18:00pm. Golfers playing beyond 11:00am and that would like to eat with us following their round, should kindly speak to Bar staff prior to teeing off, making them aware and making suitable arrangements if at all possible.
